In 1977, when his school had a marathon program to donate to a car accident student, Rick told his father: "Dad, I want to run to raise money for her!" Dick, a lieutenant colonel of the US National Guard, was stunned by the almost unimaginable will of the 16-year-old. A happy and anxious heart, the father hugged the child saying, "Okay baby. We will run. ”Then the 37-year-old father, who had never run a marathon before, had to practice hard to get the child running.
